Slow down you crazy child

My love for slow mornings skyrocketed this year, here's why it has been a boon

Slowing down builds my character, hustling feeds my ego.

I remember being a 10 year old, drinking a glass full of milk at 6:30 am, whining to my mom about why do I have to rush to school.

It’s not the morning and waking up early that I had a problem with. It was the rushing.

I used to wonder what it would feel like to wake up at 6:00 am and not have any place to rush to, any schedule to follow, or any tasks to tick off my checklist.

Just simply thrive breathing in the morning air. Sipping black coffee while diving into a book. Or sitting in the garden and scribbling away at a thought. Churning out write ups and blogs.

That dream doesn’t feel out of reach today. Because I am living it now, have the freedom to.

It’s 6:10 am and I am writing this piece. Who knows I might even go back to bed again!

But before I do that, I’m gonna leave you with what I promised. Here are the reasons why early mornings can be your power move, your “hack” in life that leaves others wondering “hmm why is she so sorted?!”

1) Remember your brain wakes up before you do. No, seriously. Give your mind 20 quiet minutes before it has to deal with 50 notifications, a to-do list that looks like a novel, and that one WhatsApp message you don’t wanna read yet. That’s when magic happens. Ideas, stories, random “aha” moments. You know, the good stuff you can’t force.

2) It’s power play, be the person who calls the shots. Instead of the morning calling you in the form of your alarm, inbox, boss, or the group chat, you get to say: “Nah, I’ll have my coffee first, thank you very much.” That’s your power move. Your tiny rebellion. And it feels amazing.

3) Let the clarity sneak up on you. While everyone else is panicking over traffic or breakfast chaos, you’re sitting there thinking: “Hmm… maybe I don’t need to do all the things today.” Suddenly, decisions feel obvious, priorities line up like they’ve been waiting for you.

4) You learn to get out of your head and notice stuff. The sunlight hitting your wall. The way coffee smells when it’s just right. The birds that sound like they’re gossiping about you. These little details sneak into your day and remind you life isn’t just about chasing material success!

5) Get the extra energy (which also becomes a flex). While the world’s still half-asleep, you’ve already had your moment, your calm, your clarity. Everyone else is running on chaos. You? You’re running on zen. And yes… it makes you look suspiciously “together” to the world.
